Comparison of Filming Costs for Film Location Finland

Digital Film Archive Fund Monitoring and Evaluation
SPI has been hired to manage a review, over a three year period, of the UK Film Council’s £3 million fund to support access to moving image archive material. The work has involved design and construction of a toolkit to enable long-term review of the progress of activities funded by the programme.

Jonathan Olsberg participated in the teaching of the CASS Film MBA. He worked with students on a number of areas and helped organised a number of other guest tutors to participate in the MBA.
Screen NSW – Production Fund Review
This assignment involved evaluating the economic impact in New South Wales, and Australia as a whole, of the agency’s production investment fund.
European State Aid – EFADs and CineRegio
This assignment involved a complete review of all state aid issues (covering film funds as well as studio support) for both the European Film Agency Directors and regional fund association, CineRegio.
Northwest Vision & Media – Mapping the Television Sector in the Northwest
SPI conducted an economic map of the value of the independent television sector in the Northwest. This was the first full-scale exercise of its kind conducted in the region.
Northern Film and Media – Creative Industries Intellectual Property Investment Fund, Feasibility Study
SPI, with partner consultants in the North East, was commissioned by Northern Film and Media to undertake a feasibility study to identify options for the delivery of a “Creative Industries Intellectual Property Investment Fund” in the North East.
Manchester City Council – Granada Campus
SPI was retained by Manchester City Council to evaluate the area of the city in which Granada’s offices and facilities were based as the possible location of a digital media cluster.
Scottish Enterprise, Scotland – Studio Strategy
SPI was retained by Scottish Enterprise to assist and advise on a tender process for a new film and television studio in Scotland.
Inter-Regional Mapping Study – London Development Agency
SPI was retained to conduct a study of the film and broadcast sectors in the English regions of London, the East and the South East.
Film London – Production Guidelines Report
As part of its initiative to attract productions from India to film in the UK, Film London retained SPI to develop a framework of practical guidelines for incoming Indian producers.
UK Film Council – Talent Development Review
SPI examined the UK Film Council’s track record in supporting the development of major film talent (producers, directors and writers) including a dozen case studies and a set of recommendations for enhancing their efforts in the future.
Digital Film Archive Fund - Monitoring and Evaluation
SPI was hired by the UK Film Council in 2008 as the monitoring and evaluation partner of its £3 million Digital Film Archive Fund, The DFAF fund represents a stream of National Lottery funding, operated by the UK Film Council. The fund has been delegated by the UKFC to the 9 Regional Screen Agencies to enable them to fund projects that enhance public access to UK’s screen heritage. This work is ongoing
Other Film Fund Feasibility Studies – Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Islands Film Commission
SPI was hired to conduct three separate assignments to explore the feasibility of creating a Highlands and Islands Film Fund and a fund in each of Jersey and Guernsey. The study considered and recommended a framework for the fund’s operation and identified the benefits that would result from its creation.
Greater Copenhagen Authority, Denmark – Copenhagen Film Fund
SPI was retained to conduct a feasibility study into the possible creation of a new fund to invest in local and incoming productions in order to expand inward investment and increase exports. The assignment included an assessment of competing Northern European film production centres (London, Hamburg, Berlin, Trollhattan in Sweden).
