SPI was the international expert member of the team that worked for Chile’s economic development ministry in analyzing Chile’s current offer to international productions (film, television, commercials).
East Anglia Film Archive – Development Strategy and Audience Development Plan
This was an assignment to evaluate the potential for the growth of the archive as well as possible avenues for its commercial exploitation. In particular, this study examined opportunities for the digitisation of existing content in order to provide wider public access.
Film i Väst, Trollhattan, Sweden – Five-year strategy
SPI undertook a general review of the West Sweden Film Fund and Commission to develop a second 5 year strategy (having been involved in the first strategic plan). SPI also designed and ran a Business Strategies Symposium for Scandinavian film, television and new media producers.
East of England, South West, London and West Midlands English Regions, UK – Strategy Formulation for Regional Screen industries
SPI was retained in each of the four English regions listed above, in response to the Film Council’s English regional strategy, to perform analyses of the strategies of the screen agencies and to recommend alternative structures of policy delivery.
Film City Glasgow – Sigma Films
SPI developed the idea of a media cluster in Govan Town Hall in Glasgow with client Sigma Films. The idea has since grown into the Film City Glasgow project.
East Midlands Media, England – Digital Cluster Study
SPI was retained to assist in the creation of an agenda for the support of the region's digital media cluster. Specifically, the assignment consisted of a review of existing support structures, an identification of appropriate interventions for the sector and an outline of possible impacts from such support, including inward investment and exports.
East Midlands Media – Digital Screen Initiative
SPI undertook an extensive development study on a proposed digital screen initiative, which would create a digital cinema network across the East Midlands region. SPI examined the proposal from the perspectives of technology, business models and market demand.
Sustainable Film Business Review
Olsberg|SPI, on behalf of a major film agency, recently conducted an extensive review of how far the international public policy environment helps build industry sustainability through the emergence of film companies of scale.
Study of the UK Facilities Sector
The team produced a report on the facilities sector and its sizeable contribution to the UK’s wider film and television industry. SPI was retained by UK Screen, the trade body representing service companies in the television and film industry in the UK, to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the opportunities and challenges that face the facilities sector in the UK.
