SPI CEO Participates on Berlin International Film Festival Panel About How Co-Productions and Tax Incentives Can Boost Local Industry

SPI CEO Leon Forde on Friday 14th February participated in a roundtable at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival on how co-productions and production incentives can boost a local industry.

The panel was moderated by Elisabet Cabeza of Screen International and sponsored by the Film Basque Country and Basque Audiovisual and hosted by Screen International.

During the discussion, Leon was quoted in Screen Daily discussing related findings from SPI’s 2024 economic impact assessment of Spain’s film production incentive. Leon stated, “What we found is how much business the international incentive had brought, investment that otherwise might have gone elsewhere.” He further underlined that a production incentive “is only part of an ecosystem that has to be developed together, including the supply chain, studios.”
