SPI Appoints Steve Solot as Associate for Latin America

Olsberg•SPI today announces the appointment of Steve Solot as Associate for Latin America. Steve Solot, one of the screen sector’s most experienced strategy professionals, has joined OlsbergSPI as Associate covering Latin America.

Steve has a distinguished career as Senior Vice President of Latin American Operations for the Motion Picture Association between 1995 and 2008; seven years as president of the Rio Film Commission; founder of the Brazil Film Commission Network; ten years as President of the Latin American Training Center-LATC (a regional audiovisual consulting, training and publishing centre) and most recently two years as Latin American production policy manager for Netflix.

Steve will be based in Brazil and will focus primarily on clients in the screen and creative industries, as well as workforce training, production incentives, and overall strategies for screen sector expansion. Having identified the screen sector as a significant driver for economic growth and job creation in the context of post-COVID recovery, SPI is positioned to guide public policy and government agencies to create strategies to stimulate expansion in the short and long-term.

Steve recently departed from his position at Netflix, where he supported a team focused on incentive management, workforce capacity development and infrastructure as part of the company’s public policy objectives in Latin America, Spain and Portugal, working fluently in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

SPI’s Managing Director Leon Forde said: “Jonathan Olsberg and I are thrilled that Steve will be contributing to SPI at a key juncture in the company’s development and expansion. Steve brings with him over 20 years of experience with public policy, with ministries of culture, economy and tourism, film institutes, trade associations and guilds throughout Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

He has lived and worked in Chile, Spain, Mexico and Brazil, and his years of industry experience will add unparalleled insight and skills to enhance SPI’s client base across a range of areas.

Steve Solot said: “I have worked with OlsbergSPI on many occasions, and value their technical methodology and expertise which is highly-respected by public and private sector entities around the world. It’s a privilege to be joining their team and to contribute to the  dynamic audiovisual industry by diagnosing deficiencies and recommending public policies to take advantage of the new platforms and opportunities they offer during this critical time, as the industry begins to recover in the post-COVID scenario.”
