SPI to Undertake Impact Study into the Sámi Screen Sector

The International Sámi Film Institute (ISFI) has commissioned SPI to undertake a study that provides in-depth and comprehensive evidence of the impact and potential of Sámi film and television production. The Sámi are an indigenous people inhabiting a region that today encompasses large northern parts of Scandinavia and Russia.

Specifically, the study would involve building an evidence base for the economic, cultural, social, and strategic impacts created by Sámi screen productions. The study will also outline strategic recommendations to the ISFI in relation to future opportunities and approaches that might be employed to grow the Sámi screen industry further.

Through consultations, desk research and data analysis, SPI will provide the data and insights required to help support the Sámi screen industry.
