SPI’s Executive Chair to Participate in Webinar on Post-COVID Audiovisual Public Policy Challenges in Latin America

On 13th May, SPI’s Executive Chair Jonathan Olsberg will join an expert panel to discuss what public policy support is required for Latin America’s audiovisual sector to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting at 16:00 (BST), the event is the third in a series led by SPI’s Associate for Latin America Steve Solot, in celebration of the new bilingual publication, The Audiovisual Public Policy Landscape in Latin America, available for free download here. The book, which is sponsored by SPI and published by the Latin American Training Center (LATC), covers a wide range of themes in 20 essays.

SPI’s Executive Chair Jonathan Olsberg provided the publication’s Prologue, as well as a chapter examining the key components of a holistic screen sector strategy.

The panel will explore this in-depth examination within the context of post-COVID audiovisual public policy challenges in Latin America. Further themes covered in the collection of 20 essays will also be discussed, including the Impact of Film and Television Production on Economic Recovery, and Diversity and Inclusion in Latin America’s Audiovisual Sector.

Panelists, also authors of the publication, include Alexander Cuntz (Head of Creative Economy Section, WIPO), Silvia Echeverri (Board Member, Latin American & Caribbean Film Commission Network – LAFCN) and Giancarlo Nasi (Vice President, Ibero-American Federation of Academies of the Cinematographic Arts and Sciences – FIACINE).
