SPI’s Executive Chair Jonathan Olsberg Interviewed by IFC on Current Trends and Best Practices in Global Film and Television Production

During the 2023 Annual Meetings in October, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, hosted a panel discussion titled Unleashing the Potential of the Creative Industries. Following the live event, OlsbergSPI’s (SPI) executive chair, Jonathan Olsberg, sat down with the IFC to provide further insight.

Jonathan discusses a range of topics related to SPI’s work internationally. These include the economic impact of the screen sector, the role of production incentives in sector growth, as well as the significance of strategic marketing in driving industry growth during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jonathan also notes the shift in production to new global locations such as Africa, driven by the demand for local content by streaming services. He also emphasises the importance of effective incentive design, a skilled workforce, high-quality production infrastructure, along with a supportive regulatory environment in attracting film and television productions.
