SPI Organise Panel on LATAM Audiovisual Public Policy at the Guadalajara International Film Festival

On the 11th June (at 4pm CT), SPI’s Associate for Latin America Steve Solot will be leading a panel on Public Policies for a Robust Audiovisual Industry at the Guadalajara International Film Festival.

Supported by the UK Department of International Trade (DIT), the panel will explore multiple themes. These include the benefits of effective public policy on the audiovisual industry; the positive impact such investments have on the economy; and specific policies for the growth of the audiovisual sector in the context of the creative economy.

Across these themes, discussions will look at the role of production incentives, workforce capacity (including training, diversity and inclusion), physical production infrastructure (such as studios), and film-friendly policy environments.

Panelists include:

  • Manuel Mandujano, Head of Technology and Creative Industries, British Embassy in Mexico, UK Department for International Trade (DIT)

  • Pierre Emile Vandoorne, Director for Public Policy Affairs of Netflix for Mexico

  • Jorge Riggen, Film Commission Director in Jalisco
