SPI Publishes Update of White Paper on Global Film and Television Production Incentives

OlsbergSPI (SPI) has published an updated version of the Global Film and Television Production Incentives White Paper.

The White Paper, commissioned by the Motion Picture Association (MPA), builds on the original report published in 2019, and provides up-to-date analysis of global production trends, the role of incentives in stimulating production, detailed insight into their impacts, and how these impacts are measured.

At time of publication, 120 incentives are in operation globally, all following common principles, but with tailored rules and objectives based on local priorities. The White Paper provides a detailed overview of the key design features across incentives, and provides a survey of the wide range of impacts that they can generate. With a wealth of global examples, the report shows how incentives deliver measurable gross value added (GVA), job creation, and infrastructure development impacts, while also boosting areas such as screen tourism.
