Creative England launches SPI-produced Economic Impact Toolkit for English Region Authorities

Today, Creative England’s Filming in England has published its new and unique Local Economic Impact Toolkit.

This new Toolkit, created by Olsberg•SPI (SPI), contains bespoke documents for tracking, analysing and measuring screen production in the eight English regions outside London. The documents are designed to work cohesively and to standardise the approach that each local authority takes to manage this aspect of their location responsibilities.

The Toolkit elements include:

  • Templates for tracking and reporting on production spend

  • Real-world examples of Ripple Analyses on the expenditure in supporting sectors, such as hospitality and catering, location fees, travel and transport

  • A Rate Card that provides estimated daily spend based on specific categories

  • Regional Impact Tool to calculate the economic uplifts in terms of employment within screen production companies resulting from production expenditure.

With consistent use by the over 200 local authorities across these regions, the Toolkit promises to have long-lasting and far-reaching effects on how the English screen sector is accurately measured and valued.
